The Last Payphone

The city’s last payphone
rings as I walk by.
I pick it up and say ‘hello?’

A voice as sweet
as a forgotten dream
says, ‘Don’t bother’.

I want her to say something
else, anything, but I just say,
‘All right’ and hang up.

I return every night, hoping
it will ring. After a week,
I pick up the receiver.

The line is as dead,
deader than a secret
in a watery grave.

still far west of serenity

who make craters of eyes to dance

Just a little from the right - that white pole - to narrow the focus a bit more. Had another look and it really is an excellent shot. Love the monochrome colour and all those shapes and lines.

The first one, you can see the pole but it's a little less obtrusive and it makes for another beautiful line. I thought your message to me would show up in my news feed but I had to go directly to my page to find it. Least I know now to check there first. They've changed around so much stuff on facebook that I can't keep up. Oh and congrats on the feature.
